2010 SPANISH SUMMER CAMP

Spanish Horizons is launching an innovative concept of summer camp this year in which the ultimate goal is to have a good time.

Children are immersed in Spanish through a sequential weekly thematic approach. Students are engaged through hands-on projects:

- Arts and Crafts
- Face Painting
- Puppet Workshop
- Jewelry Making
- Giant Boards Games
- T-Shirt Decorating
- Water Games
- Park Field Trips
- Singing and Dancing

Let your children join the Spanish "Aventureros" for a big adventure this summer! Come to explore the magical and secret corners of the world. Every week your chilren will have the chance to accompany "Los Aventureros" in their adventures through fabulous mysteries of the pirates through the stunning immensity of the enchanted castles .

DROP OFF AND PICK UP: Parents can begin dropping children off in the school up to 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the class(9:00 a.m.) and picking them up at noon (12:00 p.m.).The teacher will be staying until 12:10 p.m. to the latest. Please notify if you are going to be late.

• Class contents vary according to age and grade level, and include hands-on activities to engage students with different learning styles.
• Our goal is to encourage students to develop a love for the language that will naturally motivate them to continue learning Spanish, and become bilingual.
•Both, a conversational approach and grammar are incorporated into the program according to age and level of proficiency

Age group: Kindergarten to 2nd grade

Students learn to communicate orally through fun, age appropriate games, story-telling, read alouds, songs, and hands-on activities based on a thematic unit approach. Spanish lessons include dialogues to communicate with friends, children and family.

Children in third to fifth grades learn to communicate in Spanish orally and through reading and writing based on a thematic approach. Fun age-appropriate activities and strategies include role playing, read-alouds, choral/echo pair readings, Spanish games, skits and more.

Students learn to communicate in Spanish orally and through reading and writing. More elaborate sentence structures and vocabulary is learned through fun meaningful activities.
